The 2027 Honda Civic Type R is due to begin reaching U.S. dealerships in October 2026, according to Honda’s October 1 announcement. The update adds comfort and chassis features while retaining the headline 315-horsepower rating.
What does the 2027 Civic Type R cost?
Honda’s official U.S. pricing sheet separates the vehicle price from delivery:
- Base MSRP: $48,695
- Destination charge: $1,295
- Total suggested retail price: $49,990, including destination
That total excludes tax, license and registration, dealer-installed accessories and a $455 premium-paint charge where applicable. Dealer prices can differ. With premium paint, the suggested price would be $50,445 before the other excluded costs.
Honda’s 2026 Type R specifications page, checked October 2, lists a starting price of $47,395. Comparing base prices gives a $1,300 increase for 2027, about 2.7%. This is a model-year list-price comparison, not a measure of what individual buyers paid.
What changes?
Honda’s launch announcement identifies three main groups of updates:
- Driving: revised front airflow and splitter, retuned +R damping, quicker rev-matching and a brake-pedal spring intended to reduce play. Honda claims improved cooling and downforce; these are manufacturer claims, not GlobeBriefly road-test findings.
- Cabin: heated front seats, new trim materials and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Technology: Google built-in with Gemini, Alexa built-in, two USB-C ports and post-collision braking. Connected-app availability and compatibility vary, and some require setup.
What stays familiar?
The 2026 specification page already lists 315 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. The 2027 announcement and pricing sheet retain those features. The published EPA ratings also remain 22 mpg city, 28 highway and 24 combined. These ratings are for comparison; actual mileage varies.
What should buyers check?
Ask for an itemized out-the-door quote and compare equivalent paint and accessory choices. When weighing a remaining 2026 car against a 2027, separate the price difference from the value you place on seat heating and the other updates.
Honda says arrivals start this month; it does not promise an exact delivery day at every dealership. Local inventory, allocation and a particular car’s arrival need separate confirmation.
